Valentino vs. Lulus

A while back I did this Valentino look-a-like for the black and nude version of this shoe.  This particular style has been duplicated multiple times since then.  I completely understand why everyone is remaking this shoe.  The style is perfect and will go with everything!  You can literally wear these on the red carpet or with a tee and some jeans and look equally fabulous.  Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection has this same style with but with a multicolored chevron print.  If you love this bright multicolored chevron print lulus.com has a comparable pair for less.

I see this look all the time and I love it.  The best trick to looking like the most effortlessly stylish girl in the room is to pair dressy bottoms with a worn crew neck sweatshirt or tee shirt.  I am all about versatility.  Before I purchase a bottom I have to be able to style it with at least two other things that I already have in my closet.   I do that because I want to get my money’s worth out of the garment.  However, we have all been shopping for a special occasion and found that perfect over the top bottom that we just had to have.  Before you know it that dressy bottom that you loved so much finds a home in the back of the closet never to be worn again.  Whether it is sequin shorts, a velvet skirt, or colored leather pants they will all pair great with sweat shirt or tee shirt.  Play around with some of your old sweat shirts and tee shirts and you’ll see that with the right accessories, those dressy bottoms will become your favorite go to items.

Shoe Repair 101

I found three great things that will help out with maintaining your shoes.  I don’t know about you but I currently have at least three pairs of shoes in my closet that can benefit from these tricks.  I have tried all three and they have worked wonders for me!

1.       Break in stiff or too snug shoes by slipping them on with thick socks and blasting your feet with a hot hairdryer.

2.       To stop squeaky shoes, remove the insole and apply Vaseline or WD-40 before replacing it.

3.       To remove watermarks from leather boots, add a few drops of vinegar to a bowl of cool water and scrub the stains with a soft bristle brush until stains are no longer visible.  Let them dry overnight.

Isabel Marant makes the cutest boots ever!  Her designs fall in between chic and cool which goes with my style perfectly.  For this particular boot I really like that she used leather and suede.  I would love to add these to my collection!  If you’re like me and really love these Isabel Marant boots but are not loving the price, not to worry because Jessica Buurman has a comparable pair for less!

Front Door Fashion

Front Door Fashion is a great website for all my ladies that love looking great but my not have the time to shop for themselves. Front Door Fashion is also great for ladies who may want additional help with styling their wardrobe.  A friend of mine originally told me about Front Door Fashion.com so I decided to check it out for myself and see what they had to offer.  The idea that Front Door Fashion has is awesome!  You begin by taking a detailed survey about your size, body shape, and things you like and don’t like about fashion.  Based on your answers a stylist/personal shopper will put together 3-6 complete outfits including accessories and ship them right to your front door.  You don’t even have to leave your house, how convenient is that? After you get the box full of clothes and accessories you decide what you want and what you don’t.  Anything that you don’t like can be sent back using their pre-paid shipping label.  You are only charged for what you keep, but if you do decide to keep the entire box you get 15%j off the total box price.  I love this!  There are no excuses not to look as good and fashionable as you want these days.  I would love to her hear what my readers think of FrontDoorFashion.com so go check it out and let me know!

Full Skirts

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved full skirts!  When I was little I used to refer to them as “cheerleader skirts”.  I just remember being so fascinated by how playful they were and how they swayed as you walked.  I cannot even begin to explain how the feeling I use to get as a young girl twirling around in my skirt!  So you only imagine my excitement when I noticed that they are now trending on tons of fashion sites!  I like the full skirt option compared to a tight mini.  Tight mini skirts will always have a special place in my heart, however they are not appropriate for all occasions.  Full skirts long or short can be perfect for any occasion if styled right.

Roland Mouret

The master of structure and silhouette is what he is known as. His understanding of a woman’s form allows him to create iconic dresses that are more like pieces of art than clothing. Roland Mouret first learned about fabric while working with his father in a butcher shop. He would watch as the butcher aprons were being folded up. After a long day at work he would then stare at his dad’s butcher apron covered in blood and the different patterns it made up against crisp white fabric (rolandmouret.com). To this day he is still very intrigued by folding of fabric and how easily it can be manipulated. Roland Mouret choice of design is draping, he never draws anything first.

When I first saw these gorgeous nude sandals it was love at first sight. I love the combination of the thick and thin straps. The color and heel height are perfect. These sandals will go great with everything. If you love these sandals as much as me but not the price, Jessica Burrman has a comparable style for less.
